Elsa Peretti - Design Inspiration
Elsa Peretti @elsaperettiofficial was signed by Tiffany & Co. @tiffanyandco chairman Walter Hoving after an introduction from her friend Halston in the early 1970s. The Italian female designer was brought in for her ground breaking sterling silver creations, though Tiffany had not sold silver jewelry in 25 years.
"The rules of taste have nothing to do with price," Hoving famously said. "A low-priced article can be just as attractive as a high-priced one if it is properly designed."
Soon, other bright female artists like Liza Minnelli @officiallizaminnelli and Sophia Loren @sofia_loren_offiial adopted her pared down, powerful cuffs and collection, most famously, the "Bone Cuff," so named as it skims the wrist bone so comfortably by design.
Peretti had started a revolution in jewelry that @newsweek compared to the Renaissance. Soon all women were in love with her timeless creations, like the "Open Heart" and "Bean" necklaces and earrings in sterling silver.
