Care

How to Care for your ADJ

Amy Delson Jewelry is hand-crafted with love and must be handled with care. To ensure your pieces enjoy maximum longevity, please do not wear them in the water or sleep in them. Avoid spraying perfumes directly onto your jewelry. It is a good idea to wipe each smooth piece with a soft jewelry cloth after wearing and store in a jewelry box. Pieces with stones are especially fragile. Please place on soft surfaces with care and avoid bumping the stones into other jewelry or hard surfaces.

  1. Apply beauty products first. Put on your perfume, hairspray, and lotions before your jewelry. The chemicals in these products can dull the shine of the metal and the stone. By making your jewelry the final touch to your routine, you protect its finish.
  2. Clean gently. Use a soft polishing cloth specifically designed for silver on your sterling silver pieces. Avoid using harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners, as the gemstones can be sensitive to rapid temperature changes and strong detergents. Use warm water and a drop of mild dish soap on 14k gold or 18k gold vermeil. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently clean around the settings but avoid harsh scrubbing as this can damage the finish. Do not let gold vermeil sit in water, rinse it quickly.
  3. Dry thoroughly. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to dry the piece. Do not use paper towels, as they can cause tiny scratches on the metal.
  4. Store separately. Keep your jewelry in a in a cool, dry place, like a soft pouch or compartment in your jewelry box. Storing sterling silver pieces in a small airtight bag or a lined jewelry box helps slow down the oxidation process, which will darken the silver over time. Use a silver polishing cloth to remove any oxidation.
